Mark Young

Hi! My name is Mark Young and I have been a personal trainer at Heron Creek for 5 years.


I graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Kinesiology in 2000. In the time since, I have been fortunate to have a career that has allowed me to specialize in many areas of fitness and nutrition.


I have conducted graduate research in exercise physiology, worked in a bariatric medical program, prepared fitness and bodybuilding competitors for competition, and performed thousands of hours of personal training with everyone from 16 to 90 years old.


If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with all of the conflicting information on exercise and nutrition, that’s where I come in. My specialty is demystifying exercise and nutrition so everyone (yes, you!) can get stronger, leaner, and healthier.


My objective is to take all of that confusing information and make it simple so you can understand and apply it in a practical and sustainable way. 


My approach is not to pulverize you with brutal workouts that will make you hate the gym. Instead, I prefer to take a step-by-step approach to introducing new exercises. This will allow your body to adapt without excessive soreness and allow you to become familiar with the exercises you’ve learned before adding more.


You’ll not only make physical progress, but you’ll gain the knowledge of how to exercise safely and effectively while feeling completely at home in the gym.


Oh, I also like to tell jokes. 


Mostly dad jokes and puns. 


They are hilarious!
